You might be thinking about money.

Yes, that's important. Don't think that a man can just get married with an empty pocket.

But, that's not the most important thing.

Here's 5 major roles you may not think of as a single man who is thinking of marriage:

Emotional expressionAs a man, you gotta learn how to express your emotions properly. It doesn't mean you bottle things up and appear macho. No, it means you express all human emotions properly.
Active parenting"Go to your mom!" tactic works well in many cases. No doubt. But, it doesn't justify putting all parenting responsibilities on the mother and the mother alone. Parenting is a team effort, not a solo show.
Domestic helpWe all share the same house, right? So we should all feel responsible to maintain the house as a liveable and calm place where everyone in the family finds solace. What does that mean? It means sometimes you gotta do the dishes and clean the toilet.
Meaningful communicationIt is a widely spread rumour that men don't communicate. Actually, we do. But the way many men communicate isn't understood by many others. That won't do, especially if you want to create a meaningful bond with your wife or your child. Good news: good communication skills can be learned, by anyone.
Role modelingEver heard of the saying "monkey see, monkey do"? A child is like that. No, I don't mean a child is a monkey. I meant a child will follow whatever he/she sees, not what he/she hears. You might say something like "hey, don't smoke yeah" while holding a cigarette, and they will most probably be influenced by what you do and not what you say.

These are not advanced stuff. They are basic.

Why? Because they build up the foundation of the family.

So if you are a single man, preparing for marriage, work on your bank account. But don't forget to also work on your emotional bank account.

It is more likely that you're gonna make more withdrawals from that second account.
